New York Times' Best Dog Nail Clipper

A FAVOURITE AMONGST PET PARENTS AND TRAINERS

Millers Forge has been a premium manufacturer of pet grooming and related products that are used by veterinarians, pet groomers and pet owners worldwide for over 65 years.

Not only is this nail trimmer one that will last years if not a lifetime (unlike most that only get worse as you use them), it is also extremely good at its job. The best tool for trimming nails as it's sharp, can take off tiny precise slices and is suitable for most dogs except giant breeds. It produces the quickest, neatest trim and is the least stressful for both - pet and handler. Easy to use, easy to see the nail, cuts thinly and is very sharp for working around the quick.

This nail trimmer is a no-nonsense tool that cuts cleanly, consistently, comfortably, and effortlessly without losing its edge or hurting your hands. The red-handled clipper is easily manoeuvrable and has a metal bar guard to stop you from cutting too much nail at once if you like to use it - most people tend to just move this out of the way in practise though and some that like to use it feel that it's best to blutack in place as it can otherwise move on its own. With the spring-loaded cutting mechanism you get a smooth and clean cut with less noise and more comfort for your dog.

Key Features:

  • Durable plier-style nail clipper
  • Quality-made of stainless steel to withstand years of use
  • Comfortable red plastic grip for secure hold. Please note that the red handle cover can be removed and some find it more comfortable to glue it in place so it doesn't ever slip off.
  • Spring-loaded cutting mechanism for more precise cutting action
  • Easy to use latch to lock the trimmers closed for storage and maintenance, protecting the blades
  • Built-in guard can be moved into position to prevent over-cutting of nails
--> though it tends to be fairly loose and may need to be blutacked in place if you wish to use it
  • 12.7 cm long, 60g

Have an anxious dog around handling? Maybe this blog post will provide some guidance.

They are the best in the world!

I have lived in several countries and as a bit of a nail nerd, these are by far the best that you can buy! Slim, light, sharp, and quiet.

Fantastic, big words coming from a nail expert like yourself! <3

Recommend millers forge nail clippers

These clippers do live up to the specifications. They are very sharp and clip the dogs nails smoothly and cleanly without a loud sound, which is what upsets most dogs. As described they are not recommended for very large dogs. I have purchased a variety of nail clippers and these are fantastic. If you want quiet sharp clippers I don't think you can afford to look past Millers Forge.

What a lovely review. Thanks so much for sharing!
Great summary :)

Best clippers

These would be hands down the best clippers I’ve bought to date.

Good and sharp and don’t squash the nail

Thanks so much for the feedback. The not squasing the nail really does stand out to us too :)

Okish

As a professional groomer they are ok red grips on the handles keep falling off which is annoying and the bail guard flops around and have to keep moving it back I just want to clip in momentum not keep stopping, haven't had a big dog in since I got them so not sure if they are going to be up for that will see. On the positive note good cut but so are the other 4 pairs of clippers I have, maybe better suited for the homeowners dog

Thanks for the feedback. I would agree with them not being the best for a really fast paced environment and can appreciate that there may be professional groomer clippers that are better suited for the job.

Great clippers

Make trimming nails so much easier, they just glide through the nail. Best pair I have ever used

Yay, thanks for sharing. Glad it's easier for both you and your dog. :)
