A Durable Tug Toy

SO GREAT TO TAKE OUT ON WALKS

Made from soft but highly durable natural leather, this Julius K9 tug toy can easily be taken out on walks in your pocket. It also has an easy to grip handle for owners, making it suitable for tug games.

  • Flat:
    • 2 handles: 30cm long

Indicated length is of the leather tug itself, so the handle adds additional length.

Check out the stuffed ones here.

Colours and leather style vary. The leather part is for tugging, the webbing handle is not. This is not a chew toy.

Unappealing mouth feel

There is a strip of leather as the product description says but it is encased in a thick, hard nylon webbing material which my dog has zero interest in holding onto in order to play tug. It just slips out of her mouth if I move it even slightly. She loves playing tug but the hard nylon webbing doesn't interest her enough to bite down on. I bought the product to use as a play reward for great behaviour when out (focus on me, staying in a sit when a dog is approaching while deciding if I will allow her to say hi to the dog etc etc) because using food or a ball for this can be too activating for the other dog/s. I will have to train her to bite down on this product hard enough to be able to wiggle it in her mouth and encourage a tug response. I hope I am able to do this and haven't wasted $32.

Hi Megan, Thanks for your review. There is no nylon webbing material around the leather. It's just the leather itself that has a textured surface. The tug becomes nicer with time as the leather softens, but it is true that it does require a proper grip down. Hopefully your girl will get into it. I carry one on my walks and my guys love it. It's many years old, so very soft now.

Easy to hold and well made

The hand holds mean I can get a good grip and the leather section allows the dog to get a good bite while not rubbing gums. We love it. The only slight downside is that I’d hoped to be able to fold it into a pocket for walks to the dog park but with the leather it is a little too bulky for that - although it’ll probably be okay in winter with larger coat pockets. In the meantime it’s the new favourite toy for the backyard and I can see it’s well made enough to last.

Thanks so much for the review! I do take the 1 handle one in my pocket but given I had it for years I assume the leather has softened quite a bit. Hopefully it will for you too. :)
