In the vast majority of cases where a dog or multiple dogs rush you, you can usually get them away from you just by chucking a whole fist full of treats right at their head once they are in throwing distance. That will allow you to make a u-turn and leave with your dog (practise this outside of those scenarios so both you and your dog get fluent at it). So, the Spray Shield is not to be used out of spite because you are upset that someone shouts "My dog is friendly" and lets their dog rush even though we all know they absolutely should not do that and you probably have a good reason to have your dog on a lead. We do not want to make the other person's dog reactive by frightening them, but rather we want to be prepared for a truly frightening and threatening situation.
The Spray Shield is in no way a training tool, but rather a way to break up a dog fight or deter an aggressive animal rushing you. While it has no physical harmful side-effects you can be sure that it will be a fairly traumatic emotional experience for the sprayed animal which is why you want to choose wisely when you use it.

It’s simple to use: Slide trigger to the side, point the spray towards the aggressive animal’s nose and push down on the spray nozzle. To lock trigger lift it up and slide it back into safety position.
