The Mānuka Chew for Dogs

FINALLY AN ACTUAL STICK YOUR DOG CAN CHEW

CAREFULLY HAND CRAFTED IN NEW ZEALAND FOR SLOW DESTRUCTION

Bonno’s ethically sourced Mānuka wood is slow dried, debarked, then treated with New Zealand flaxseed oil. Each Bonno chew is hand finished to a smooth texture ready for it to be destroyed.

LONG LASTING, SAFE FUN

Bonno chews are the long lasting nibble, fun and great for teething. Mānuka wood is fibrous and safe for the most enthusiastic chewer – the fragments are blunt and soft.
The wood-shaving like fragments of Mānuka wood that your dog will chew off a Bonno are edible and of no harm. In fact, this is the reward your dog is working towards - slowly destruct their Bonno. Mānuka wood, just like most other woods, is mainly fibre without other nutritional values and cannot be digested. Just like for humans, fibre supports a good digestion system. Mānuka wood is also free from essential oils.
No animal products, artificial ingredients or additives. Suitable for dogs with allergies.

NATIVE MĀNUKA

Fast-growing Mānuka has been used in New Zealand for centuries, valued for its medicinal qualities, honey and strong wood. The wood for Bonno chews is sourced as a by-product from local industries.

Key Features:

  • Long lasting & 100% natural
  • Grown & hand made in New Zealand
  • Plastic free chew & packaging
  • Assists with dental hygiene
  • Splinter free for safe chewing
  • Locally sourced
  • Dense fibres for a durable & low mess chew (not no mess though!)

Safety Tips: Bonno is a dog chew toy. Replace Bonno when it is too short for your dog to hold in their paws. Discard large fragments. Suitable for puppies 3 months and older. Always supervise the use of Bonno.
Pick the right size Bonno for your dog to give them the best and long lasting chewing experience. If Bonno is too small, your dog will easily and quickly destroy the chew and might be able to pull large and thick strips off. If Bonno is too big for your dog, they could lose interest.

My dogs love this!

I bought one to try with my dogs, and they love this! So. I bought a second one. It is the perfect size, does not smell and it doesn't leave a big mess. It is a very good solution to manage the excitement of my furry friends. It is a very good product!

A big hit for our stick-obsessed pup!

Soren loved this bone straight away! 🐶 It kept him busy for ages. Hoping it helps curb his habit of chewing (and eating… 🙈) sticks from the garden. Glad we went with the XL for our 6-month-old Bernese!

So glad Soren loves it! Bernese pups definitely need something solid to keep them busy, and going with the XL sounds like the perfect choice. Hopefully it helps redirect some of that stick-chewing energy too! Thanks so much for sharing the cute photo!

Awesome fun with this stick keeps him amused for ages. We hide it every few days and bring it back out and he thinks it is a whole new treat 😂

Thank you so much! So glad Tucker Brian is having such a great time with the Bonno Stick - love that trick of hiding it and bringing it back out. Those photos are fantastic! <3

Puppy approved!!!

We brought the larger stick for our 4 yr old huntaway cross who is a heavy chewer. She hasn’t showed much interest in it but our 3.5 month old pup loves it and won’t leave it alone. Thanks again for another wonderful product!

So great to hear that your pup has claimed the Bonno Stick - what a cute pic! Every dog’s different, so it's good it's still getting good use after your older one was less interested. Thanks for sharing!

Bonno chew large

We bought a small and a large. Dogs took no interest for over a week, even put vegemite on and one dog did a random chew on small one. Hubby sawed the large one in half length wise. Finally they took some interest. Wouldn't say it's their go to. Prefer deer antlers but happy not having totally wasted money. I think we often read the good reviews and have high expectations that our dogs will love products too, but sometimes they just don't or need a little longer.

Just like people, every dog has their own preferences, and sometimes it takes a little time (or creativity!) for them to warm up to something new. It’s true that expectations can be high, especially after reading glowing reviews, so we really appreciate your balanced feedback. While we’re sorry to hear it wasn’t your dogs’ favourite, we're glad it didn’t go completely to waste and that they showed some interest in the end.

Perfect!

Isla the 7 month old puppy is a serial stick chewer. We were looking for an alternative to unsafe sticks and to add variety to her array of meaty chews. It took her until now to be keen to chew the Bonno (I think it was a little hard when I got it at 5 months for her) but she’s hooked now!

Ah that's fantastic that she got into it a bit later on. Funny how that goes sometimes. Thanks so much for the cute photo! <3

Great bone

My 7 month puppy loved it: he’s always chewing on logs and brining them inside to make a mess, this was a great alternative. So much so that my 6 year old dog decided to steal it so I bought another one. 2 very happy beagles.

Naww, thanks so much for the photos! That's awesome they both love it! <3

The coveted chew!

Luna is busy and satisfied with this chew. Love the sustainability and the natural wood concept. It’s the one both our dogs go for first so I think we are going to need another!

So glad to hear it's a hit. I did think it would be! :)
Biggie will love to have his own one :D
Thanks so much for the cute video!

Crowley loves his new "stick"

Crowley is a chewer, and wants to chew any piece of wood or wood looking thing he can including bushes and trees still in the ground 😅 this Bonno chew has been great whenever he eyes something that's a no chew zone we tell him to get his "stick" and he trots off and grabs his big hunk of Bonno and sets to destroying it piece by teeny chewed piece. It's great to know it's safe for him and saves our plants and furniture ❤️

Oh, what gorgeous photos of Crowley with his Bonno! So glad it's working so well for you guys. Thanks for sharing!

Feeling blonde

My partner still hasn’t stopped laughing at me for spending money on a piece of firewood. For some reason I read it at a reconstituted wood rather than just a lovingly presented stick of manuka. Kudos to the marketing behind this. Pup was very happy to chew it :)

The Mānuka wood goes through a long process of drying. The long and slow natural seasoning process helps to harden the wood and minimises splitting. Additionally, the flaxseed oil often makes it more enticing as well.
Luckily it's not reconstituted wood as that wouldn't be natural and entail glue or other chemicals.

Lonnie Loves her Bonno Chew

I got the Bonno for my Lonnie
She loves it
Thank you so much.
She has a chew on it for a bit n then goes back to her ball
The funny thing is- I had to pretend to chew on it n then she got the idea of what to do with it.
This will keep her happy for ages.

Lonnie is so cute. Haha, whatever works - the chew for the whole family ;p

So glad it's a hit! Thanks for sharing the gorgeous photos too!!

Puppy loves it

My 4 month pup is chewing everything in sight, except her nylabone chew toys and kong toy that is :-)
This one is a win for her, therefore a winner for us to.
Hasn't let it out of her sight since I took it out of the packaging and is chewing with abandon.
Well worth the money

That’s fantastic to hear! Puppies definitely need something good to chew on, so it's great she took to the Bonno Stick. Sounds like she’s claimed it as her new favourite already!

Amazing!

Our 8 month old rescue pup lives to chew! These have been fantastic as there are not bits of branches all over the floor and furniture 😀
The medium size has been wonderful.

That’s wonderful to hear! So happy your rescue pup is enjoying the Bonno Chews and that they’re keeping the mess under control too.

Good chew toy

Donnie is a big huntaway, but a smaller chew might have been better.

Sometimes it can be hard to judge the right size. Hopefully the XL is lasting him a while and he's still enjoying it and then maybe you can size down next time. :)

Excellent Chew Toy

We have an 18 month old staffy/lab cross who is a very heavy chewer with very strong jaws. We bought her the extra large bonno and she just loves it!! She has been chewing on it for the last 2/3 weeks and has barely made a dent in it. We can see the chew marks on both ends but this is going to last her some months I think. Well worth the money and keeps her very happy and occupied.

Awesome how long they last, isn't it!? Thanks so much for sharing. So glad it's a hit! :)

Great natural chew

Dogs love it and it doesn’t make a mess like regular sticks do.

Appreciate that feedback - and totally agree, less mess makes everyone happier! Glad your dogs are enjoying the Bonno.

Well loved (by dog) but sadly does not last very long with a strong chewer, marks carpet

I like the idea behind this but think it will be a special occasion/infrequent/y purchased chew for our dog. She is an 18 kg Koolie (Australian working bred) and a very strong chewer. I got her the correct size for her weight but she has already eaten through over half of this in a couple of sessions. So it does not last as long as her Kong Extreme (can last her 6+ months before she manages to start getting chunks off it and needs to be replaced). Also beware if you have lighter coloured carpets, as this does make pink-brown marks on the carpet. It also involves a lot of extra vacuuming as we get little bits of wood everywhere after she chews it (she is meant to stay on her mat with it, but often moves off a little with her exhuberance). She does really love it and I like that it is locally made and wood, I just can't afford to keep her chewing habits up in this, so will reserve it for when I feel like getting her a treat rather than her everyday chew.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful review and for giving the Bonno a try with your Koolie! Really glad to hear she loved it, even if it didn’t last quite as long as you'd hoped.
Given her strong chewing power (especially if she gets through Kong Extremes!), we’d recommend trying the XL size next time — many heavy chewers find the upsized version more durable. We also offer a range of tough toys like our black Can Toys and the GoughNuts toys, which come with a replacement guarantee and might be a better everyday option for her chewing style.
Thanks again for your support and for taking the time to share your experience — I truly appreciate it.

Bono Stick X-Small Twin pack for pup

Our pup is slow to chew on this which is actually great. We feel confident she isn't getting splinters and when she needs to chew, its there. Pleased with our purchase.

Nice! That's so lovely it's working so well for you guys!

Pretty great update on an old fashioned stick

Letting your dog chew a piece of wood is a scary prospect at first, but after having a good go at his new chew toy, I can see that they are very safe for my little Cocker Spaniel pup. I love that you get two in the smallest size; otherwise, I would query the cost more than I have. Thanks for offering great products!

That's awesome it's working so well for you. I can see why the cost seems high at first, but so far it's been lasting really long for everyone who has tried it, so if that continues the cost is actually quite reasonable. But even luckier if you have a little guy and can get the double pack of course. :D

Wood!

Puppies love wood and my puppy does still pinch my firewood occasionally but I am encouraging her to choose this stick and is spending some time on it instead.

Nice, good to have something that doesn't splinter! <3

Bonno Chew

My dog loves this chew but not quite as strong as we thought. 2 weeks in and still going strong but Milo has already caused some serious damage!

Thanks so much for sharing your experience. Because Bonno is meant to be destroyed, we would expect a good amount of damage after 2 weeks. Glad to hear it's still going strong though. :)

Dogs like them

The dogs like these a lot, all three of them, and the youngster seems less inclined to chew inappropriate wooden objects when he has a Bonno stick available. The XL size hurts a lot if a dog drops it on your toe, though.

Ouch, that sounds like you speak from experience. The XL sure is quite big.
So glad the dogs like them and even better if your furniture is safer for it! :)
