Awesome fetch toy!

This is such an awesome retrieval training toy. I bought it with my dog Teddy in mind he’s a German shorthaired pointer.

He loves everything about hunting but just does not have the retrieval side down. He loves to stalk, chase, and run instead. Previously I had been working on exchanging a treat for a toy with him but he would just drop the toy as soon as he would see me with the treat, instead of bringing it to me.

It wasn’t too hard to teach my GSP the concept of this toy though, and he soon learnt he needs a human to open it for him. I’m hoping that it will transfer over to his hunting skills. If not it’s still an awesome game for him in the meantime.

All of my dogs absolutely love this toy!
It is safe to say it has become their new favourite toy and game. All 6 go and chase it even if they don’t get to pick it up and retrieve it, they still like to participate and get a treat.

We fill our fetch toy with frozen mighty mix concentrate and dehydrated organs. The mighty mix works best because it can’t be broken up by the dogs mouthing the toy like the organs can.

Be prepared to touch drool and get drool all over your hands when trying to get a treat out of this toy, it’s one of the only downside that I can really think of. Mine gets covered in drool by about the 3rd throw! We keep something to dry it off nearby.

While this toy feels very sturdy I have noticed some slight tears starting to show in the stitching from my boy mouthing this toy as he brings it to me, and likely from him trying to paw the zipper open. An easy fix to re stitch but just something to be mindful of if you’re thinking of purchasing for a dog that likes to chew.

How awesome!

I love the whole doggy family gets stuck in and enjoys it!
Hopefully, especially if you add in a cue, he’ll start generalising the behaviour towards other tasks. :)

Great tips here too – thanks for sharing! Love the videos and photos! :)
